Social network users are everywhere.

Even in the toilet people are still browsing through their social networks while doing their “business”. Examples of social networks that are always used by people nowadays are Facebook, twitter, instagram, keek and etc.

However today, we will be focusing on Facebook.
But why do people choose facebook as their main social network?

The reasons behind it is simple, it helps us connect. It may be to make new friends or to stay close to family. Other than that, we can also share our interest with the others. We can share music, pictures and interesting facts with each other just by a click of a button.
The last reason that I came up with is that Facebook is a place to share our thoughts and information. For an example, many politicians have been using Facebook to inform their voters about their new policies. And we, as the public are able to give our feedback.

As usual, all good things must have a bad side.

People use Facebook without realizing the consequences. When we sign up for an account, we provide our basic information which will then be seen by others.

This provides a way for hackers to get our personal information and may even get hold of our bank accounts! Besides that, whatever we post online can be seen by others.

Which means that, every single photograph taken or status update can viewed by anyone, anywhere at any time. Potential bosses may even find out about all those wild nights you used to have in the past!

Finally, cyber bullying can occur if we are not careful of what we say online.
Our whereabouts can be easily found out if we constantly use the check in function on Facebook. This means that, a stalker can easily find you just by looking at your profile!
They might hack your account just to get our information so that they can use as their own. It can also be conclude as identity theft. Notice how Facebook’s design constantly changes?

Well, so does your privacy settings. Every time Facebook redesigns, your privacy settings change back to default.

Which means everything’s public.

So how do you protect your own account?

Well thats easy. First thing’s first you need to set your account to private so that strangers can’t see your personal information. You can also change password once in awhile to avoid from being hack by somebody, especially after logging in using a public pc.

Last but not least, it is important to not check in to every single place that you go to which means stop giving unimportant information to strangers so that they can’t detect you and find you if they wish too!
